Determine What Triggers Your Child’s Sensitiveness

Each kid is unique. This means that if they have sensitive skin, they will experience triggers that will cause their skin to flare up. And these triggers may range in different things. It isn’t easy to know what sets off your child’s sensitiveness. But when you do, it will be much simpler to keep an eye out for such situations in the future.

Keep Household Chemicals Away From Their Reach

There is a possibility that your child is sensitive to the components or chemicals that can be found in some of the most popular house items, such as aerosol air and fabric sprays. In line with that, ensure they won’t reach any of these products by storing them out of their reach. It would be better if you had a separate cabinet for these household items.

Check Your Sunblock or Sunscreen

Nobody wants sunburns as they can damage your skin, making it look less pleasant. Aside from that, sunburns can also be particularly excruciating for younger children, especially for those with extra delicate skin. In line with that, it is essential that you never allow or take your kid outside without first applying a thick layer of sunscreen on their skin.

The purpose of sunscreen is to protect your sensitive skin against the harmful UV rays of the sun. In line with that, you tend to look for a sunblock with at least 30 Sun Protection Factor (SPF) to ensure that your child’s skin will receive enough protection.

However, if your child has sensitive skin that can be easily irritated, it is better to look for sunscreens that include titanium dioxide as the most prominent active component. Aside from that, you should also avoid buying sunblock that contains PABA since this ingredient can potentially trigger skin sensitivities.

Do Not Forget To Patch Test When Trying A New Product

When you want to try a new product on your child’s skin, it is essential to do a patch test on the inner part of your kid’s arm or wrist. Stop using the product immediately when your kid develops rashes or if he experiences an itchy, dry, burning, or hot feeling on his skin after a few days of usage.

On the other hand, when your kid’s skin does not react after minutes of doing the patch test, it certainly means that it is safe to use.

Keep Their Skin Moisturized

The sensation of having dry skin is one of the most constrictive and uncomfortable feelings. Once you have found a moisturizing lotion for your kid that does not provoke an adverse reaction, applying a generous amount of the product throughout their skin is best.

Keeping their skin moisturized is one of the utmost things you should maintain during the winter when the blustery winds and dry heat can create havoc on everyone’s skin regardless of age.

Use Natural Soaps

Many dermatologists recommend that using natural soaps is better than those infused with chemicals. This is because no matter how sensitive your child’s skin is, natural soaps won’t harm them other than cleaning and moisturizing the skin.

Aside from that, it is also better to choose soaps that do not include perfumes or artificial colors that might aggravate skin conditions. When it comes to detergents, wash your kid’s clothes with liquid detergents rather than powdered ones, considering that the former is much easier to rinse off.

There are lots of natural soaps you can find on the market. Some of them are made with great ingredients. If you are looking for a moisturizing natural soap, look for the one made with 100% aloe vera or honey.

Final Thoughts

Kids are naturally born with a young-looking and gorgeous complexion. However, if your youngster has extra sensitive skin, it is vital to pay close attention to the products you will use. Check if the products are fragrance-free or sensitive skin-friendly, from soaps to detergents to lotions and sunscreen.
