How to Squeeze in Self-Care as a Busy Parent

When you are a busy parent, the thought of having any kind of Self-Care As A Busy Parent can be daunting. With that being said, self-care doesn’t have to be extravagant. It also doesn’t have to take a lot of activity or planning. Fitting in smaller new habits or even rituals to break things up can be a good way for you to feel better overall. Get Physical

One of the first things you need to try and do is get physical. Experts have said time and time again that working out is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Start small and be sneaky if you want to make sure that you are getting that physical fix. If you can do this then you are bound to feel better on time at all. Walking and hiking are also good options if you feel as though you have the time for them.

Drink More Water

Another thing you can try and do is drink more water. Ice and fresh lemon are very good additions if you feel as though you’re not hydrating yourself enough. While it is fun to indulge sometimes, you have to remember that eating ice cream and burgers all the time is not good for you. One way for you to work around this would be for you to try and make more optimal choices every day and to make sure that you are always thinking about the way that the food is going to make you feel after. If you can keep this in mind then it will help you out quite a lot.

Superfood Smoothies

Bananas, berries and even kale work very well in a smoothie. You won’t even feel as though you are eating veg either which is always a good thing. If you want to help yourself to make the most out of your smoothie experience then one thing you can do is try and look up recipes online. When you do, you will then have a very good way to find out what food goes together, so you can get the result you need without any stress at all.

Focus on You

Whether it’s dying your hair or sitting back with a glass of wine, if you want to be able to take care of other people then you have to learn how to take care of yourself. Learn the difference between highlights and babylights, so you can find something that is sustainable and makes you feel good. It doesn’t take long to devote time to self-care like this and a lot of the time, you may find that if you simply do it in the morning before your kids get up then you can feel better about yourself in no time at all.

Hide your Phone

Drop your phone in a kitchen basket and name it as being the no-phone zone. Another thing you can do is leave it on charge downstairs when you’re trying to relax in bed, or when you go outside. Endless scrolling and having to reply to things instantly, when they happen can be draining so you really need to avoid things like this if you can.

Meditate

Another thing you can do is try and meditate. Proper meditation techniques can be helpful if you want to relax and if you want to connect with reality a little. If you are a busy parent you may find that you just don’t have time for things like this though and this can be draining for you as a whole. If you want to do something about this then take the time to focus on how you feel in the current moment and make sure that you are always being mindful of your surroundings. Taking the time to decompress is always a good thing and some would say that it is the best way to take care of yourself.
