Puzzles are a fabulous way to help brain development and give kids benefits later in life. In fact, puzzles are the perfect brain food no matter what your age is. Here are some key things puzzles do for preschoolers:
- They promote basic concepts and skills: Puzzles teach young children about concepts of a whole, shape recognition, concentration, goal setting, patience, and a sense of achievement.
- Puzzles teach physical skills: They develop hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor skills. There is also some coordination between puzzles and handwriting skills.
- Kids learn to problem solve: Puzzles test critical thinking, judgement, visual perception, and memory skills. Puzzles can’t be cheated.
- They are good for teamwork building: Having kids take on puzzles with someone see helps the child to build their communication and team building skills. Work together with them.
