Fun Koala Bear Facts

  • Did you know that the Koala Bear is native to Australia.
  • The Koala bear is not a bear. A Koala is a marsupial, meaning a Mother Koala bear raises her baby Koala in a pouch.
  • Koalas mainly eat eucalyptus leaves. These leaves have a lot of water meaning the Koala bear rarely needs to drink.
  • A Baby Koala is called a Joey. It is literally the size of a Jellybean. The Joey crawls into his or her mother’s pouch after birth and stays there for six months.
  • Koala’s live for 13 to 18 years and usually the female Koala bear will outlive the male Koala.
