What Is Phonemic Awareness?
Rhyming helps a child to develop phonemic awareness, but what does the term Phonemic awareness mean?
A phoneme is a sound and through using words that rhyme either in books, nursery rhymes or songs children are able to develop essential skills such as anticipating the next word in the sentence. By doing this children are able to develop their speech and literacy skills and prepare for the next stage of reading.
