Who Is Cupid?
Cupid is a Roman god of desire, love, attraction and affection. According to Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”, he is the son of Mercury, who was the messenger of the gods and a divine beauty named Venus. Cupid is known for his childish pranks, such as hitting people with arrows that causes them to fall in love.
Why Is Cupid A Part Of Valentines Day?
Cupid was later linked to Valentine’s Day because of his association with love. There are several symbolic references linking Cupid to Valentine’s, the most popular being the story of how he shot one of his arrows into a group of people who were debating about love so that all would fall in love with the next person they saw.
