Why Are Sloths Slow?

Sloths are slower than any other mammal on Earth. Sloths move so to help conserve their energy. Because of what they eat, Sloths do not have food that gives a lot of energy so they want to conserve their energy. Sloths are known to move so slow that it will actually have algae growing in its fur.

What Do Sloths Eat?

Sloths eat a mostly herbivorous diet, which means that they eat only plants. They like the leaves and buds from certain trees especially the leafy cecropia tree. The sloth also enjoys fruits. The 2 toe sloth is also known to eat insects and small lizards.

Where Do Sloths Live?

Sloths live in South America and in Central America in the rain forests. The sloths spend most of their time in the trees and only come down about once a week.
